    Typically, the teen's response to being asked why she did it was something along the lines of "I don't know". I think that's the bog standard response nowadays isn't it?

    Safe to assume that 999 is the UK equivalent of the US 911 emergency system?

    Yes and more people should be fined for using the number to call out the emergency services for non-emergencies.
